What is a mattress foundation?
A mattress foundation is a durable, solid or slatted base built to give structure and support to your mattress. It’s a contemporary alternative to the traditional box spring, but without the springs and typically made from wooden or metal slats covered with breathable materials. The distance between the slats affects the amount of support — closer slats usually provide a firmer, more stable surface.
Pairing a California King Foundation with Your Mattress
Choosing the best mattress foundation depends on individual preferences as well as mattress size and construction. BedInABox® offers two mattress foundation options that are compatible with California King size mattresses: a slatted foundation and a platform foundation.
For proper support, the mattress and base should correspond in size. Standard California King mattresses measure 72 inches in width by 84 inches in length. A California King size foundation should have the same or similar dimensions. A smaller-than-needed base may lead to the mattress becoming unstable or compromised over time. Should your current foundation prove insufficient for your mattress size, we strongly advise upgrading your foundation to something that provides ample support for your current mattress or upgrading your mattress to a size more compatible with your current mattress base.

While we have already touched on how important it is to use a mattress foundation that is compatible with your California King size mattress, it is also important to consider the amount of available space in your room and the scale of your budget.
Spatial Considerations:
